Trained engineer overcomes self-doubt and political disillusion to step up to the plate

Trained engineer Yeo Bee Yin once thought that the only way she would get near politics would be to marry an MP, but now she heads a key government ministry after being hand-picked to join the Cabinet by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad.

It has been a dizzy ride for Ms Yeo who, at 35 years of age, is the second-youngest minister in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Cabinet and the youngest female.
