19-year-old on board missing MAS flight is recent St Andrew's Junior College graduate

One of the passengers on board the missing Malaysia Airlines flight is a recent graduate of St Andrew's Junior College (SAJC).

Malaysian scholar Tony Tan Wei Chew, 19, was on the way to Beijing for a vacation with his parents, according to his former room-mate of two years and compatriot Aaron Quek. He has two younger siblings who were not on the flight, added Mr Quek, also 19.

Schoolmates said they last saw the Malaysian student on Monday when they went back to school to receive their A-level results.

Mr Quek, who attended SAJC with Mr Tan and shared a room in the school's hostel with him, said he was thinking of applying to universities in the United States.

Mr Tan came to Singapore on a scholarship when he was 15 and Mr Quek said they attended Catholic High School together.

There was still no confirmation on the location of flight MH370 as of 10pm on Saturday.
