11 militants killed in Abu Sayyaf lair in southern Philippines

Security forces in the Philippines killed 11 Muslim militants in clashes in the southern Sulu province, a stronghold of the small but brutal Abu Sayyaf extremist group.

Three special forces soldiers died, and 17 others were injured, the military reported yesterday.
