Tens of thousands of Cambodians attended the 40th anniversary of the expulsion of the brutal Khmer Rouge regime at a stadium in Phnom Penh yesterday. Prime Minister Hun Sen was joined for the celebration of what he called the country's "second birthday" at Phnom Penh's Olympic Stadium by traditional Khmer apsara dancers and marching bands.

Both the US and China want to reach an agreement on trade, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry as a two-day summit began yesterday. Asian stock markets cheered the development, with most of them registering gains. The critical talks are aimed at warding off a trade war that has threatened to derail markets and economies worldwide.
