S. Korea exports down 9.7% from Jan 1 to 20: Customs data

SEOUL (REUTERS) - South Korean exports for the first 20 days of this month fell 9.7 per cent from a year ago, Reuters calculations on the customs data showed on Monday.

South Korean exports totalled US$26.27 billion (S$32.3 billion) for the Jan 1 to Jan 20 period, according to data that the Korea Customs Service published on its website (http: www.customs.go.kr), compared with US$29.1 billion reported a year ago.

Imports fell by 13.2 per cent to US$27.77 billion for the first 20 days of the year from US$32.0 billion a year earlier. This led to a trade deficit of US $1.51 billion for the Jan 1 to Jan 20 period.
