Pakistan and India both claimed to have shot down each other's aircraft yesterday, as they sought to gain the upper hand in a propaganda war while tensions escalated over Kashmir.

Pakistan was first to claim it had shot down two Indian Air Force (IAF) jets, with a government spokesman saying that one of the aircraft had fallen inside Pakistani territory and two Indian pilots had been arrested.
