Malaysia's RM22 billion (S$7.3 billion) MRT system - 10 years in the making - will start trial runs in October, Bernama news agency says.

The first phase will link downtown Kuala Lumpur and the townships of Sungai Buloh and Kajang.

The line's three-month trial run will add to the just-expanded Light Rail Transit network and KTM Komuter lines, as part of the government's push for more rail transport links in the most populous districts.
