India unveils plan to go to Venus by mid-2023

Mission will study planet's surface, among other areas, and feature 12 scientific payloads

Following successful missions to the Moon and Mars, the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has announced plans to go to Venus by mid-2023.

A statement from Isro last week called for collaboration with the international scientific community on "novel space-based experiments to study specific areas of science interest on Venus".
