Hollow noodles bring solid income

Hollow noodles play an important role in poverty alleviation at Suiyang County in Guizhou province, China.

Workers follow the process of making the hollow noodles, which is based on 72 ancient steps, including kneading, rubbing, pulling and wrapping.

Under a market-oriented production mode, Sui-yang's traditional hollow noodles have been turned into a profitable business that has helped increase the local employment rate and personal income.

Currently, Suiyang produces more than 700 tonnes of hollow noodles, with an annual output value of more than 24 million yuan (S$5 million).
