Will Trump-Kim summit be a recipe for peace or war?

The latest twist in fraught US-North Korea ties may ease tensions, but it could also stoke tensions if expectations are not met.

Early this month, US President Donald Trump surprised the world by opening the door to a possible meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un this year.

It came as a shock, not least because of the harsh words and outright insults exchanged between the two men in the preceding months, the provocative weapons testing by Pyongyang and the sanctions that came in their wake. From talk of war and the assertion of "maximum pressure" diplomatically on North Korea, now comes this about-turn by Mr Trump.
