Duterte to meet Abe in Tokyo

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will make a three-day visit to Japan starting today.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe reportedly plans to have private personal meetings with Mr Duterte in Tokyo, in a bid to keep him onside with US-led efforts to contain Beijing's South China Sea ambitions.


Renewable energy trends

At the Asia Clean Energy Summit 2016, which opens today, more than 100 international speakers will talk about sustainable and renewable energy trends around the world and in the Asean region.

The summit is Asia's leading event focusing on clean energy technology, policy and finance, and is supported by government agencies, research institutes and industry players in Singapore.


Latest MAS review of economy

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) will release its latest macroeconomic review today. The biannual report gives an overview of the state of the local economy.

In the last review in April, the MAS said that negative business sentiment had become more pervasive and unemployment was expected to rise even as wages moderated in Singapore - but that an outright recession was unlikely.
