Lam formally appointed as HK chief

Hong Kong's incoming chief executive Carrie Lam will be appointed today by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in a formal ceremony in Beijing. She will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in the afternoon. She will then visit the office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing to meet Hong Kong people who study or work in the capital city. She will also speak to the media before returning to Hong Kong the same day.


Dialogue on e-commerce

Lawyers and tech players will meet today in what is expected to be a lively dialogue on e-commerce and related matters such as privacy and intellectual property. The dialogue, The Future Of E-Commerce, is co-organised by Singapore Management University's Centre for Cross-Border Commercial Law in Asia and law firm Dentons Rodyk. Minister of State Janil Puthucheary will speak on Singapore's Smart Nation initiative.


Data on resale prices of private homes

The performance of private resale homes is expected to come under scrutiny today with the release of the Singapore SRX Property private non-landed housing index for last month. Market observers and home buyers will be keeping watch on whether the market will continue its recent winning streak. Resale prices of non-landed private homes here rose 0.9 per cent month on month in February, the fourth consecutive month-on-month gain.
