A fiery pile-up inside a Japanese highway tunnel yesterday killed at least two people and left 70 injured, as dozens fled toxic smoke from burning vehicles.

The accident took place inside the 860m Hachihonmatsu tunnel in Hiroshima prefecture in south-west Japan when a truck crashed into several vehicles.
