Taiwan court relaxes law for mixed heritage people to claim indigenous status

TAIPEI - In another stride forward for indigenous peoples' rights, Taiwan's Constitutional Court has ruled that individuals with mixed heritage will be able to claim indigenous status without changing their names.

When the law is amended - expected in two years - an estimated 95,000 indigenous people will be able to obtain indigenous status .
