If the shogunate were to still rule Japan, Mr Iehiro Tokugawa, 53, would be its heir.

The 19th in line to the Tokugawa shogunate - which ruled Japan during the Edo period from 1603 to 1868, when a bloodless coup marked the Meiji Restoration - Mr Tokugawa is fluent in English and has a Vietnamese wife.
