A schoolgirl from China was filmed doing her homework on the roof of her father's taxi on Monday (May 14), in an incident that has since raised eyebrows on the Internet.

The girl was shown in the viral video with the upper half of her body hanging outside the moving taxi, as she sat on the edge of a passenger seat window.

She appeared to be writing on a book that was resting on top of the taxi, as other vehicles drove past.

The bizarre incident happened at about 5pm in Shangqiu city in Henan province, Central China, according to local media reports.

Local news website Beijing News, quoting taxi company Huada, identified the driver as the girl's father.

The company said that the father had been distracted while talking to a friend and did not notice that his daughter had mischievously climbed out the window.

Beijing News said that the father's licence has since been suspended.

A spokesman from the local Ministry of Transport said that the driver had committed a dangerous driving violation, reported Daily Mail.

"We are currently liaising with other departments for the appropriate penalty," the spokesman added.
