The United States features in what Japanese observers see as the top three threats to regional stability in North-east Asia this year, a survey by Japanese think-tank Genron this month has found.
The ranking - unveiled yesterday at Genron's first annual Asia Peace Conference - identifies the impasse in US-North Korea denuclearisation talks, US-China strategic rivalry and the uncertainty of the US presidential election this November as major threats.
