Chinese peacekeeper Jia Xiaochen hands out sweets to children in a refugee camp in Juba, South Sudan. China sent its first peacekeeping infantry battalion to South Sudan in April this year, consisting of 700 peacekeepers. The contingent, which also includes 13 female soldiers, has been tasked with protecting civilians, United Nations personnel and facilities, as well doing street patrols.
