Hong Kong police on Saturday (July 30) arrested a female plane passenger from mainland China after she allegedly had a dispute with cabin crew on board a Cathay Pacific flight.

The 36-year-old woman had hurled orange juice at a 25-year-old female flight attendant, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

The passenger was travelling with a large party on flight CX746 from Dubai to Hong Kong and reportedly got angry because children's meals were not prepared in advance.

This escalated into an altercation and the woman threw the juice at an attendant.

Police officers were waiting at Hong Kong International Airport when the plane arrived at around 5am, and arrested the woman for common assault.

The attendant was not injured, a police report said.

A Cathay Pacific spokesman confirmed the incident with SCMP but did not provide further details.

In December 2014, a Chinese female passenger unsatisfied with the service on an AirAsia flight from Thailand to China flung hot water at a cabin attendant.

The plane was forced to return to Bangkok.
