North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has hit a high, at least where his hair is concerned. His gravity-defying hair raised eyebrows, while his eyebrows themselves appeared straight and chiselled, and too short to be raised.

His hair and eyebrows drew comments and turned heads after his new look was pictured during a meeting of the North Korean politburo on Feb 25.

He previously had a centre-parted hairstyle, with one that shaved sides. While his eyebrows have always been compact, they are now even shorter than his eyelids.

The South China Morning Post speculated that the dictator's eyebrow shaving may be an effort to look more like his grandfather, Kim Il Sung, the first leader of North Korea. His hairstyle, however, looks closer to his father Kim Jong Il's anti-gravity style.

The Guardian quoted Mr Ki Lee, the owner of a Korean salon as saying that the North Korean leader's hairstyle is fairly high-maintenance, with that sort of height requiring a fresh perm every few months. He added that such a style is not easy to do on Asian hair.
