South Korean President Moon Jae In continues to be the mediator between the United States and North Korea, trying to downplay scepticism as he assured US President Donald Trump of Pyongyang's commitment to denuclearisation despite a recent tantrum.

In a 30-minute tete-a-tete at the White House on Tuesday, with only their interpreters present, the two leaders agreed to cooperate closely to ensure the success of the planned US-North Korea summit in Singapore.
