BEIJING - Heavy fog on Saturday morning resulted in a 60 vehicle pile-up on a highway near China's northern city of Tianjin, causing many to be trapped, reported state media China Central Television (CCTV).
Rescue work was underway for three hours, and those injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment.
Pictures posted on Weibo show cars and trucks which slammed into one another in the chain-reaction crash, and fire service officers trying to free drivers trapped in their seats.
Local authorities are now clearing the highway and urge road users to reroute.
