Hong Kong's Carrie Lam committed to serving out her term, apologises again after extradition Bill protest

She seeks to rebuild trust and defies calls to quit, but protesters reject her apology

Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam yesterday reiterated that a divisive extradition Bill has been suspended and promised not to re-table it, apologising to Hong Kongers for a second time after massive crowds took to the streets on Sunday to protest against it.

Defying calls to step down for her mishandling of the Bill's introduction, Mrs Lam said she is committed to serving out her five-year term, and attempted to strike a conciliatory tone with youth, who have been at the front line of the recent protests.
