Huawei is a symbol of China's pushback against the US

News out of Huawei's Shenzhen headquarters this week that its employees were working round the clock to take its new HongMeng mobile operating system (OS) to market by the fourth quarter is the latest sign that the Chinese technology giant is not expecting a breakthrough in trade talks with Washington.

Escalating rhetoric this week saw United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warn the Netherlands and Switzerland not to rely on Huawei's technology - echoing earlier warnings to Nato allies, and coming after he went on Fox News and labelled Huawei an instrument of the Chinese government.
