A People's Liberation Army officer standing guard as Hong Kongers flocked to the city's military barracks yesterday to queue for 2,000 free tickets to tour China's first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, which will be opened to the public for the first time since it was commissioned in 2012. They had been lining up since Sunday night, according to the South China Morning Post. The aircraft carrier and three smaller vessels arrived last Friday for their first visit to the city and will depart next Tuesday. Public tours are available only on Saturday and Sunday.
