HONG KONG - Liberal studies, a controversial subject in secondary schools partly blamed for last year's protests, can be retained but under strict parameters, including doing away with current affairs discussion and vetting the content to be taught, a government-appointed task force has concluded.

In a final report on Tuesday (Sept 22), it proposed that liberal studies be trimmed and for the content to be constantly reviewed to reduce disputes about the subject matter.
