The former president of the Legislative Council, and a pro-Beijing politician, says the protests are a wake-up call for Hong Kongers to tackle the city's problems

On the night of Nov 18, Mr Jasper Tsang Yok-sing walked into The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) campus, accompanied by Hong Kong University law lecturer Eric Cheung.

It was the day after the fiercest battles had broken out between the police and protesters holed up at the PolyU.
