As territory launches fast-track admission scheme, regional competition is expected to rise

As Hong Kong joins the race to innovate and build a smart city, its hot pursuit of technology specialists from mainland China and overseas will provide relief to talent-starved tech companies, but observers say it will also intensify competition in the region for such talents in the next few years.

From June 25, the Hong Kong government will launch a HK$500 million (S$85 million) Technology Talent Admission Scheme that allows the fast-track admission of research and development (R&D) talent from outside of Hong Kong.
