Torrential rain and flood waters caused this bridge to collapse in Guilin city in China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region yesterday. Heavy rain lashed much of southern and eastern China over the weekend, with Guangxi Zhuang among the hardest-hit areas. In Fujian province, the death toll after a construction site landslide in Taining county rose to 34, even as rescuers rushed to find survivors. Four people are still missing.
