Rescuers looking for survivors in flood-hit Shucheng county in China's eastern province of Anhui on Sunday. Torrential rain in the province has left 27 people dead and three missing, said the local authorities yesterday. Continuous rainfall over the past two weeks has killed dozens of people, including 34 in central Hubei province. Over 17 million people have been affected by the destructive weather in the two provinces, with 974,000 relocated. The meteorological authority renewed its orange alert, the second-highest level, for heavy rain, which is forecast to continue in Anhui, Hubei and nearby areas till this morning.
