BEIJING - China opens the annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC) on Monday (March 5). It is the first parliamentary session after a major leadership reshuffle at last October's 19th Party Congress.

Those among the top echelons of party leadership are expected to be appointed to key positions at state institutions when the NPC meets from March 5 to March 20.
