Moments after a renting a Ferrari sports car, a woman in China lost control of the vehicle and wrecked it.

Photos circulating on Chinese social media platform Weibo showed the Ferrari 458's front bonnet severely damaged, and one of its front wheels dislodged.

According to media reports, the unidentified woman had rented the car for 4,500 yuan (S$940) on Thursday (June 21).

As the woman sped off with the car, she lost control of the vehicle on the roads in Zhejiang, China.

The roads were slippery due to rain.

The car crashed into a road barrier and hit a BMW travelling in the opposite direction, which then collided with a black Nissan next to it.

Moments before the crash, the woman had shared a video of herself driving the luxury sports car, saying: "First time driving a Ferrari. This truly is the most amazing feeling."

Repairs for the Ferarri could cost more than 1,000,000 yuan, local reports suggested.

Chinese netizens had a field day discussing the accident, with one saying: "See, Ferraris have terrible build quality - that's why I haven't bought one," adding an emoticon of a winking face.

Others wondered if the woman had been distracted by her phone, causing the accident.

One netizen also suggested that the car's traction control could have been turned off, resulting in it spinning out of control.
