A Chongqing woman damaged eight cars in a carpark after losing control of her brakes, Chinese reports said on Friday (Nov 25).

The accident happened at a multi-storey carpark in the city in south-west China on Tuesday (Nov 24) morning.

While the woman escaped unscathed, her Volvo's bumper fell off, the hood was dented, the left wheel dislodged, and the headlights were shattered, Chongqing Times reported.

The airbag in the car was deployed.

The woman, surnamed Yang, said the vehicle was stuck on a slope, and when she tried to reverse, it slid all the way back, banging into a Buick.

The Buick bumped into the van and a BMW, which were parked in the same row.

She panicked and changed gear to drive forward, and the car shot up to the next floor. It crashed into five other vehicles, including a Range Rover, Sina News said.

The car stopped when it crashed into a pillar.

The woman, who has been driving for four years, said she will take responsibility for the damage, Chongqing Times reported.
