Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean and Chinese Vice-Premier Zhang Gaoli will co-chair the 13th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) in Beijing today.

The JCBC is a high-level platform started in 2004 to discuss ways to deepen and broaden the Singapore-China relationship.

Mr Zhang is a member of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) apex Politburo Standing Committee.

On the first day of his visit yesterday, Mr Teo, Coordinating Minister for National Security, met the Singaporean community in Beijing, and Mr Zhao Leji, head of the CCP's Organisation Department.

Singapore and Chongqing firms inked pacts to launch two new projects to expand Chongqing's transport links to South-east Asia and Central Asia. Singapore agencies also signed five pacts with the Tianjin Eco-city.
