Athletes around the world are enthusiastic about the Tokyo Olympic Games, judging by the fact that several countries such as China, India and Australia are sending their largest delegations to the sporting extravaganza.

But public interest is muted, understandably, perhaps, because of the resurgence of Covid-19 in many places caused largely by the highly transmissible Delta variant of the coronavirus.
