BEIJING - Human resource manager Michael Du was supposed to visit his parents in Hebei province in northern China over the Golden Week break that ended on Friday.

But the 30-year-old decided to remain in the capital city to minimise the chance of being caught somewhere with Covid-19 outbreaks, which will prevent him from starting work on Saturday.
