Sanitary napkins that can treat prostate problems and herbal remedies to cure cancer were among the claims that attracted millions of Chinese to healthcare product maker Quanjian Group.

But the billion-dollar Chinese company is now in trouble as the authorities are investigating the firm for false advertising and for operating a pyramid scheme, which is outlawed in China.
