China's rise under Xi unnerves neighbours while Abe fares better

Pew poll finds few in region have confidence in Chinese leader to do what is right globally

Chinese President Xi Jinping may be one of the most powerful men in the world, yet there is little love for the strongman and his leadership style, including among his neighbours.

A survey by Pew Research Centre published last week found that across 34 countries polled, nearly half say they lack confidence in him to do what is right in the world.
