BEIJING (REUTERS) - China's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday (June 11) that Hong Kong matters are purely a Chinese internal affair and China demands the United States stops interfering in Hong Kong's affairs.
Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang made the comments at a daily news briefing in Beijing.
The United States said on Monday it was gravely concerned about proposed amendments to Hong Kong laws that would allow suspects to be extradited to mainland China and warned that such a move could jeopardise the special status Washington affords the Chinese-run territory.
