It is necessary for China to retaliate against the United States' moves to impose new tariffs on Chinese imports because otherwise, it will lose more, analysts say.

However, China also needs to address the perception of the US and other advanced economies that it is employing unfair trade practices, particularly in relation to its strategies to move up the global value chain, they added.
