China gives its billionth dose

China has passed the one-billion mark in the number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered. This is more than a third of the total administered worldwide.

This is a significant step towards reaching Beijing's goal of vaccinating 40 per cent of the country's population, or about 580 million people, by the end of this month.
