6.1 magnitude quake strikes off southern Japan

SINGAPORE (REUTERS) - An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck off southern Japan on Thursday (Oct 19), the United States Geological Survey said.

The quake struck 682 km (424 miles) off Japan's island of Kyushu at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), the agency said, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
