Twice as many foreigners gathered in Pyongyang for the city's annual marathon this year in comparison with the previous year, with reduced tensions resulting in a rise in tourist numbers. Around 950 Westerners were in the race this year, up from 450 last year, according to a tour company.

The annual national dengue prevention campaign was launched yesterday, the early roll-out prompted by a big jump in dengue cases. There were more than 2,000 cases - and three deaths - in the January-to-March period, up from about 600 cases in the same period last year. TOP OF THE NEWS A1
