Czech police detain person suspected of working with Chinese intelligence

PRAGUE, Jan 22 - Czech police said on Thursday they have detained a person suspected of working with Chinese intelligence services, though they did not provide additional details.
Criminal proceedings were underway against the individual, who was taken into custody on Saturday, the police said on X. Czech security services cooperated on the case.
Czech news website Denik N reported that the detained person was a Chinese citizen, while another news site, Seznam Zpravy, cited sources saying the man had worked as an accredited journalist in the central European country.
The High Public Prosecutor's Office in Prague, which is handling the case, did not respond to a request for comment. China's embassy in Prague also did not reply to an emailed request for comment. REUTERS
