BEIJING - China's foreign minister, Wang Yi, in a telephone conversation with his Canadian counterpart said the current difficult situation in relations between the two countries is not what China wants to see.

Wang made the remarks during a talk with Melanie Joly, Canada's foreign minister, according to statement from the Chinese foreign ministry late Thursday.

"China is open to contacts and talks," Wang said in the conversation. REUTERS
