Aussie energy security report out today

A highly anticipated review of Australia's energy security is set for release today amid hopes that it will pave the way to ending a decade of bitter division that has claimed the careers of two prime ministers and led to a string of blackouts. The report by the nation's chief scientist, Dr Alan Finkel, is expected to help drive a political compromise between providing cheap, reliable energy and pushing to protect the environment.


New MasterCard innovation showcase

MasterCard is launching a new innovation showcase in Singapore - the largest among all of such spaces that it has worldwide. The showcase will feature new ways to conduct digital payments and the use of automated retail, virtual reality and contactless payment technology, among other things.


China to report consumer price data

China will release consumer price data for the month of May today. Inflation in the world's second-largest economy rose 1.2 per cent year-on-year in April, following a 0.9 per cent rise in March. It was the highest inflation rate since January, as the cost of non-food items rose at a faster pace and the cost of food fell less than in a month earlier. On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.1 per cent, after declining 0.3 per cent a month earlier.
