Still not too late to save reefs

Coral reef bleaching has piled pressure on the Australian government to take stronger action to cut greenhouse gas emissions and end support for coal mining in Queensland. Burning coal is the single-largest source of CO2 and Australia is a top global coal exporter, with plans to build more coal mines in Queensland.

"It doesn't matter where we burn the coal," said Mr David Cazzulino, a Cairns-based campaigner for the Australian Marine Conservation Society.
