For this 14-year-old Australian boy, extracting a snake from under a car before school is all in a day's work.

The boy, identified by Australian media as Oli Wardrope, is shown tussling with a carpet python in a video that has gone viral, with more than 170,000 views and 1,000 shares.

The 1min 9sec video was posted on Facebook by a Yogi McDougall on Wednesday (Feb 22).

"Oli the snake boy wrangles a carpet snake caught up under a Cruiser before going to school," reads the caption.

The video shows Oli lying under a vehicle with part of a snake on him. A man assisting him holds on to the reptile's tail.

Oli struggles shortly before managing to get the snake loose, holding on tightly behind its head with a gloved hand.

The snake is then placed in a bag.

It is not the first snake encounter for Oli, who is from Seventeen Seventy, a town in Australia's Queensland state.

Oli's father, Chazza Wardrope, wrote on the Facebook post: "That's my boy! Been wrangling snakes since he was five!"

He added that it was "just a morning before school for him".
