SYDNEY (REUTERS) - A bushfire that threatened to destroy homes in Sydney on Friday (Nov 4), has burnt through bushland in the suburb of Cranebrook, 65 kilometres west of Sydney's central business district.

On Saturday, a 16-year-old was arrested by police for deliberately lighting the fire, after two people were arrested on Friday for the same blaze in Cranebrook.

Combined high temperatures and strong winds saw bushfires burning in the suburb of Castle Cove in Sydney's north.

Local broadcaster Network Nine reported there were 35 bushfires burning across the state of New South Wales on Saturday.
