3 people die in skydiving collision in Queensland, Australia

Two men and a woman died on Friday (Oct 13) after reportedly colliding while skydiving in a small town in Queensland, Australia.

The incident occurred around 3pm at Alexander Drive at Mission Beach, Queensland police said in a statement.

A solo skydiver is believed to have collided with tandem skydivers in mid-air. Their parachutes failed to deploy correctly.

The two men in their 30s a woman in her 50s were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police added that police and emergency services are at the scene and investigations are ongoing.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation quoted a local resident who said the trio had fallen onto the lawn of a property on Alexander Drive, about 1.5km north of the landing site.
